Shifting to a circular economy plays a significant role in mitigating global warming and curbing biodiversity loss. Transitioning from a linear economic model to a circular one is crucial to solving the interlinked environmental crises to which the construction sector is a big contributor.
This training session explores what a circular economy means for construction. In this training session we will study the differences between a linear and a circular economy, as well as the basic principles of circularity, and how those can be applied to construction projects. Circular economy can not be achieved without strong cooperation. We will discuss how the circular economy ecosystem works, what the roles of each project team member are, and how circularity can be implemented across the whole value chain. This training session also covers the definition of a ‘circular building’. What actions are needed for a building to be considered ‘circular’? How can impact and circular progress be measured?
