Whole life carbon – How an assessment is conducted?

Production: eOppiva, Granlund Ltd. and Ministry of the Environment of Finland

Course description

Developers and designers in a building project can greatly influence emissions as their choices determine a vast share of all the emissions that will occur during the whole life cycle of the building.

Steering the project towards lower emissions requires an understanding of what causes climate emissions and what kind of solutions can be used to reduce them.

This training session delves into the assessment methodologies used to evaluate climate emissions throughout the life cycle of a building. We study the assessment methods and standards that form the basis for whole life carbon assessment and explore how the assessment is done in practice. We will study examples of whole life carbon assessment results and learn how to evaluate the reliability of the results.
